The Hunger Games - The World Will Be Watching

Ladies and Gentlemen, let the Seventy-Fourth Hunger Games Begin!

Masses of eager and excited fans crowded around the cinemas at Mt Gravatt Thursday morning, patiently waiting for the Australian premiere of the "Hunger Games" to begin.

The "Hunger Games" is an action packed, dramatic, sci-fi film based around the bestselling young adult novel written by Suzanne Collins.

The fiction-to-film, "Hunger Games", is set in the future, in a country called Panem. War torn and destitute, the country of Panem is divided into the 13 parts, the Capitol and 12 districts.

In the country of Panem, two young tributes, a female and a male, between the ages of 12 and 18, are selected from each district at the annual Hunger Games reaping. Once the Hunger Games begins, the 24 tributes are to compete against one another, fighting to the death, only one will survive.

May the odds be ever in your favour!

Jennifer Lawrence stars as the admirable and fierce Katniss Everdeen. When Katniss' 12 year old sister, Primrose Everdeen (Willow Shields), is selected by Effie Trinket (the eccentric and buoyant sponsor, played by Elizabeth Banks) to participate in the annual Hunger Games, Katniss volunteers as tribute, taking her sister's place.

Actor, Liam Hemsworth stars as Katniss' closest friend and hunting partner, Gale Hawthorne. Josh Hutcherson stars as Peeta Mellark, District 12's second tribute and Katniss' training partner, competitor and possible love interest.

The "Hunger Games" is an incredible film that is exhilarating and full of suspense. From beginning to end, the "Hunger Games", will have you hanging off the edge of your seats. Lawrence's portrayal of Katniss is outstanding, and her ability with a bow is jaw-dropping. Both Hemsworth and Hutcherson were charming as the male leads.

After the Australian premiere of the "Hunger Games", I had the opportunity to interview a few members of the public who, along with me, attended the premiere screening.

Here, is my interview with Carolyne:

Has the "Hunger Games" lived up to the hype of its fiction-to-film predecessor "Twilight"?

Yes, it is much better than Twilight. The acting and the storyline were more captivating.

Who was your favourite character in the "Hunger Games"?

My favourite character was Woody Harrelson's character, what was it? Haymitch! He was so funny.

Have you read the "Hunger Games" book? Did the film differentiate from the book?

Yeah, I have read the books. The film was fantastic, but there were some bits in the book that were missing, that I would have like to have seen.

Would you go back and see the "Hunger Games" again?

Definitely!

Shortly after interviewing Carolyne, I interviewed a man named Johannes. Johannes was at the midnight premiere with his partner, Lisa.

Did you enjoy the "Hunger Games"?

Yeah, it was really good. I didn't expect to like it because I don't really like romance films, but it contained a lot of action and not much romance, which I really enjoyed.

What was your favourite scene in the film?

That's a hard one because I didn't really have a favourite scene. I liked all the fighting scenes and Katniss was really good with her bow. I guess my favourite scene was when Katniss shot the apple with the bow and arrow, it was pretty awesome.

Will you go back and see the "Hunger Games" again?

Yeah, if Lisa wants to, I'd be more than happy to see it again. It was pretty good.

I personally, could not be more pleased with the "Hunger Games", I thought it was sensational. Take the money and time out of your day and go see it, you won't be disappointed.
